Prof. Dr. techn. Günther Meschke is the new prorector for research and transfer

On November 1, 2021, the new RUB rectorate has started its term of office. Prof. Dr. techn. Günther Meschke has been elected prorector by the RUB University Election Assembly for the next six years.

As prorector for Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr. techn. Günther Meschke will in particular accompany the RUB on its way to the next round of the Excellence Strategy. The RUB has already sharpened its profile with the Clusters of Excellence, Research Departments and Research Buildings and has also identified further profile areas as potential candidates for a cluster application. "On the basis of our own strengths and a clearly recognizable profile of our own, it is important to make greater use of the opportunities that arise from cooperation within the University Alliance Ruhr," says Prof. Dr. techn. Meschke. "I would like to further develop this process actively and dynamically, together with the partners and in close coordination with the prorectorate for Structure, Strategy and Planning" (quote translated). In addition, Prof. Dr. techn. Meschke would like to advocate for tailored funding programs, which should contribute to a good balance of individual excellence and excellent collaborative research, resulting in new research fields. Especially the fields of sustainability and climate change are potential topics for interdisciplinary research and important contributions of the RUB.
