Parallelization Strategy: Hydro-Mechanically Coupled Mechanized Tunneling Simulations

In the International Journal „Computers and Geotechnics“ the paper “A parallelization strategy for hydro-mechanically coupled mechanized tunneling simulations” has been published online. It is co-authored by H.G. Bui and G. Meschke.
It is a new publication of the Research Group on Computational Modeling in Tunneling and Underground Structures.

This paper proposes an approach for domain decomposition strategy for simulation of tunnel advancement accounting for interaction between the TBM and the ground. Furthermore, different preconditioners are investigated in solving the discretized linear system in parallel to speed-up the performance of the tunnel simulation.
